Unanswered Prayer

The texts for today remind me that we have a God with whom we can be brutally honest.  "Answer me when I call, O God..." can be said in desparation, in yearning, in frustration, in anger, or in sadness.  We trust our lives to our Creator and all of the emotions that come with living the days of our lives. Our God is faithful and loves his children. God gives  his Son to die for us; that we might have life and forgiveness and answered prayers.   Our prayers are answered in and through a  God who never leaves us, never forsakes us, and by a God who knows us.

Every creature prays. Cattle and wild beasts pray and bend the knee. As they come from their barns and caves they look up to heaven and call out, lifting up their spirits in their own fashion. The birds, too, rise and lift themselves up to heaven: They open out their wings, instead of hands, in the form of a cross, and give voice to what seems to be a prayer.
What more need to be said on the duty of prayer? Even the Lord himself prayed.

  1. Wow! Loved the prayer and the reminder of the cross in an outstretched wing. Beautiful. Thanks.
