Deliverance

There are times when I think we all struggle with our faith. Times of doubt, times when we feel we are in a hole so deep that there is no way out, no hope.  In "The Message"  Eugene Peterson writes Psalm 18:16 like this:

"But me he caught - reached all the way
from sky to sea; he pulled me out
Of that ocean of hate, that enemy chaos,
the void in which I was drowning.

I find this a powerful translation of  Psalm 18:16.  God cared so much about "me" that he "reached all the way from sky to sea" to save me!  We pray in the Lord's Prayer "Deliver me from evil" and he does. "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"

  1. I think this translation of the scripture is so fitting in this time of the great disaster in Japan. I think the people there have showed us first hand what wonderful resolve and faith they have to continue on and even smile sometimes. "He delivers us from evil". AMEN
